Our team is starting out well this season but we are not going to rest on our laurels. It is a very long and very competitive NFL season. Just three weeks in we've seen so many close games all over the league. Our Cardinals team is going to work to be better every game and we can't get distracted by whatever anyone else is doing.
This week I'm donating $1,000 to Pathways, a program of Native American Community Action in Flagstaff, where we have our training camp every season. The organization was nominated by Mr. Robert Kelty, Superintendent of the Flagstaff schools. Pathways offers after-school and weekend activities that prevent substance abuse, by promoting self-esteem, educational enrichment, physical fitness, traditional practices and cultural values to children in grades 3 through 8. The program is free of charge to eligible youth and their families.
Get your nominations in!
Nominate an organization you would like to support. The organization has to be an organization that serves youth in some way. I'll be donating $1,000 for each week of the regular season to an organization nominated by a fan.
Here's what you need to do:
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, with an explanation of why you think the organization you are nominating deserves the gift. Let me know a little bit about your personal interest in the organization's work. The email has to also contain the name and contact information for the organization - we need at least the address or website.
It's always good to start the season with a win, especially in front of a huge home crowd. It took a total team effort and perseverance to come out with a win against a division rival in a game that was close right up to the very end.
This week we have a very difficult road test. Sometimes the big contests are the ones you really look forward to the most. I'm looking forward to facing the New England Patriots. We are determined to get this season off to a good start and build on the win we had last week.
This week I teamed up with Baltimore Ravens WR Anquan Boldin to launch a fundraiser for Oxfam America, to support programs Anquan and I visited in Ethiopia in March.

It was great to get back out on the field for the regular season. I love my offseason travels and my time with family and friends, but I miss the competition and camaraderie with the guys during the games every week. It's a long season but we got off to a good start.
For the second consecutive season I’m going to be donating $1,000 each week to a charitable organization nominated by a fan. Again this year I'm doing this in honor of my mom who was a leader in so many charities when I was growing up. She dedicated herself to helping others in the community.
Here's how it will work. You can nominate an organization you think is worthy that you can't afford to give $1,000 to right now. Each week I'll select an organization and make a donation. The organization has to be an organization that serves youth in some way.
