It was great to get back out on the field for the regular season. I love my offseason travels and my time with family and friends, but I miss the competition and camaraderie with the guys during the games every week. It's a long season but we got off to a good start.
For the second consecutive season I’m going to be donating $1,000 each week to a charitable organization nominated by a fan. Again this year I'm doing this in honor of my mom who was a leader in so many charities when I was growing up. She dedicated herself to helping others in the community.
Here's how it will work. You can nominate an organization you think is worthy that you can't afford to give $1,000 to right now. Each week I'll select an organization and make a donation. The organization has to be an organization that serves youth in some way.
Here's what you need to do:
Send an email to larryfitzgeraldfirstdownfund@gmail.com, with a couple of paragraphs about why you think the organization you are nominating deserves the gift. Let me know a little bit about your personal interest in the organization's work. The email has to also contain the name and contact information for the organization - we need at least the address or website.
